What current members of the CCP Politburo Standing Committee will be on the Standing Committee on Dec. 31, 2017?

The Chinese Communist Party will hold its 19th Party Congress in the autumn of 2017. At this meeting, a new Politburo Standing Committee--the top decisionmaking body in China--will be announced. There is a lot of speculation about who will be on it that provides a number of good potential markets for PredictIt. For example:

  • How many members will the Politburo Standing Committee (PSC) likely have on Dec. 31, 2017? (Likely 7 or 9, but other numbers are possible)
  • Will there be any female members of the PSC on Dec. 31, 2017? (highly unlikely)
  • How many current members of the PSC will be members of the PSC on Dec. 31, 2017? (Likely 2: Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang)
  • Will any individuals who are not currently Politburo members be a member of the PSC on Dec. 31, 2017? (I'd say this is 30% yes, 70% no--see the below article for details)
